![]() With the anniversary of the original film coming up, and with the first season still very popular on Netflix, it makes sense to strike while the iron is hot. There are so many characters and variants that could still be done. There still isn't a huge selection of affordable collectibles available to fans, and Funko could very easily step in and change that. 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the film, which has now spawned manga, comic books, YA novels, games, and an amazing series on Netflix. While Funko did release one series of Pop!s and Reaction figures from the film, and one series of Pop!s and action figures from the series, there are so many characters and scenes that have not been realized in Funko fashion. We as both Dark Crystal fans and casual viewers will not let this beautiful series die without the rest of its story being told.įans of the original 1982 fantasy film cult classic The Dark Crystal went almost 35 years without merchandise or collectibles to celebrate their love of the world created by Jim Henson and Brian Froud. Yes it's expensive, but what form of entertainment isn't? Just because it's expensive doesn't mean Netflix should just let the show be forgotten without so much as a passing glance (especially just two years short of the first film's 40th anniversary no less). Let Netflix know that we want more seasons of The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance. Not only that, send letters/emails to Netflix, reach out to them on social media, openly state your support for the show and its cast and crew members on social media using the #ForThra or the #SaveTheCrystal hashtag. We cannot let this stunning tribute to Jim Henson's work go out with a whimper. They had put so much effort into their work, so this announcement of cancellation right after their Emmy win comes off as ignorant at best, and downright disrespectful at worst.ĭisrespectful to the fans who spent so much of their time supporting the show, disrespectful to the artists, puppeteers, actors, etc who poured their heart and soul to bring the world of The Dark Crystal to life, and disrespectful to both the Henson and the Froud family who worked so hard to not only preserve Jim Henson's original vision, but to expand it to such a beautiful and well-crafted degree. They knew exactly what they wanted to do and how they wanted to tell their story. The creative team behind Age Of Resistance clearly wanted to do more seasons. As the show not only received critical acclaim upon its release, but recently won an Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program. This comes as a major shock to both Dark Crystal fans and casual viewers everywhere. On September 21st 2020, Netflix announced that they would not renew The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance for more seasons.
